I remember a time when scaring the children was something we didn't want to do. We not only protected their bodies, but also sought to protect their innocence.

Nationwide Post-Sandy Hook Terror Drills | Global Research

Quote:
Since these exercises are designed to be as realistic as possible, students, school personnel and the broader public may be unsuspectingly caught up in the contrived terror, unable distinguish whether the “actors” alongside the accompanying gunfire and explosions are real or fake. This important facet is left up to the relevant agencies to explain to the press.

I just read of one where they hijacked a school bus full of kids and the guy on the bus pointed a gun at the kids and even tied a few up.

The families were told that something would happen and had to sign waivers.

Good God what have we turned into ?

In the 50s/60s we hid under desks when the air raid sirens went off.

But that's not the same as a bus hijacking with kids tied up is it ?
There were no phony Russians that invaded your school and came into the classroom pointing guns at you.

No--we were just all led to believe that it was a very real possibility that we'd have a nuclear bomb dropped on us and that we'd all die in a fiery flash, UNLESS our parents dug out fallout shelters that could keep us alive for years with filtered air and stored provisions.

The good old days weren't so great. Things always seem nicer in memory.

They're not doing these drills while school is in session, in school, with children. If students are involved, they're there by choice and they know they're participating in a drill. It's a way to help law enforcement walk through possible scenarios. I think you all are overreacting.

guess this is what happens when you allow any type of lunatic to own a gun huh ? Pretty soon every door will be bullet proof and every glass window will be double paned blast proof ?

Hyper-paranoid and fearful citizens grateful to be "protected" by an ever-expanding, heavily armed police state that justifies its existence by fake hijacking school busses, apparently.

Just think how much we could help the federal, state, and local budgets if we got the police state in check.

Nonsense. It's about putting on a show to keep the public good and scared so they'll keep paying for and supporting a police state.

And so we evolve from hiding under the desk to having a gun pointed at you and being tied up.
And you think this is overreacting ?

If they were doing this during a school day, with the students in school, then the answer would be yes. That's not what's happening. The students who participate all know it's a drill, and they're there by choice. Drills are part of emergency planning, and they have been for decades. Since we seem to have more and more school shooters all the time, this is part of our new reality.

They have done that as well in school during the school day.
No the students did not know what was happening.
They and their parents were just told "something" and made to sign waivers.

Heck cities don't even know when the drills are happening until their 911 system is flooded with calls from citizens describing helicopter attacks with gunshots in their neighborhoods.

You haven't read about that ? Is all this news to you ?

Teachers stage fake gunman attack - US news - Life | NBC News
Staff members of an elementary school staged a fictitious gun attack on students during a class trip, telling them it was not a drill as the children cried and hid under tables.
..
During the last night of the trip, staff members convinced the 69 students that there was a gunman on the loose. They were told to lie on the floor or hide underneath tables and stay quiet. A teacher, disguised in a hooded sweat shirt, even pulled on a locked door.
