Most of the state court judges in Miami are Cuban American. As a whole, older Cuban Americans are certainly NOT LIBERALS. Let's see. Do you suppose they think that Castro is a "liberal"...

The question I have is why didn't the girl have a lawyer representing her? If she could not afford one, she would be entitled to a public defender.
I understand the nature of Cuban-American politics in Miami

Do you know that this judge is a Cuban-American?

As to your question - I responded above.

That is a good question. A public defender should have been representing her.

If Florida doesn't do the same, then they need to reform their criminal injustice system.

I heard she was killed too somewhere in Colombia. She in a way is responsible for all the Mexican-drug cartel violence today.

Here's two hints if you want something to investigate

Luis Donaldo Colosio - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pay attention to his party, his name, and when he was killed.

OK - it was a bail hearing and not an arraignment.

Both can be the purposes for an initial hearing.

I understand that she was in jail and not free subject to her promise to appear in court.

She still should have had the benefit of counsel.

I agree. I'm just saying I don't believe lawyers are required for those. They certainly weren't in California for me some time ago.

Starting to make sense now. What are you a disgruntled ex-con, angry at the system?

I doubt it, but I am not interested in getting in a pissing war with you.

I hold my high school in much esteem, so the last thing I would want to do is bring it into some fray like in which you seem to want to engage.

well his name is Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat. He spoke with a Spanish accent, and according to his biography he is a REPUBLICAN. I lived in Miami for over a decade and worked in the courts there. I'd say the chances of this guy being a Cuban American are about, oh, 99%. Of course I could be wrong.

See an excerpt from his bio below:

"Rodriguez-Chomat began his career in 1971 as an internal revenue agent. He then served as a Certified Public Accountant in 1976. He also ran his own law practice, Law Offices of Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat & Associates, P.A. In 1994, he was elected to the Florida House of Representatives, where he served District 114 as a Republican from 1995 to 1999. He joined the Circuit Court in 2011.[2][5][6]

You still haven't provided evidence that he is a Cuban-American.
