So you wouldn't find liberty worth fighting for?

Liberty? That quaint construct based on the disproved ideals of "free will" and "rational choice"? It doesn't exist. It never has.

In this hypothetical scenario: if the majority believes they will benefit from a new government, then they are the new "free". The rebels will merely fight to restore the old order. A real world example was the fall of Apartheid in South Africa.

For whatever reason the constitution as you know it is abolished in the interest of the people's need for food and employment.

Would you defend your land and risk a somewhat certain death?

Or would you retreat and reorganize and give liberty a fighting chance?
What do mean "what if?"

You mean to say.... since a tyrant took over.......

Even if they are the new free, tyrants usually have scapegoats. Gotta have an enemy, ya know

Local militias would organize and probably be supported by state national guard units. The US military could not defeat the US, as citizens would allow forces to come in, unopposed, then engage in small units in which large ordinance is useless. I guess Vietnam was good for something- they taught everyone how to defeat a superior military power.

Further, most members of the military would oppose such orders and would turn thier guns on "the tyrant" in question. Ask any member of the military if they would kill thier relatives if ordered to do so by the President.
