On February 8th, 2013 at 3:50 pm a drone was sighted hovering above a neighborhood in West Oakland. There didn’t seem to be a focus, it just maintained it’s position above properties near a highway. It is not known at this point what agency or individual was operating the craft. But regardless of who was in control of the drone, it is the type of thing we can expect to see in the future of we don’t act now.
I saw a helicopter yesterday. Oooohhh, it's so creepy.
Was it spying on you?
How would you feel if you saw a person peeking through your window, watching you? Following you around? Listening in on your conversations? Looking over your shoulder as you typed on your computer? Is that creepy? Because it's essentially the same thing as a drone spying on you.
I'm going to study up on crop circles and start practicing creative mowing
If they are going to spy on me I might as well give them something to ponder.

It could have been spying on me. They've had cameras on those choppers for decades. And they have satellites too.
But then again, what do I care? I know they are not spying on me with choppers, satellites, drones, wiretaps, internet surveillance, binaculars or anything else. If they are looking for a murderer, then I hope they use every tool they have.
They are using it to find the guy who is randomly killing cops. This was announced publicly.
It's hilarious watching people shriek about cops making the streets safer, then again when they use surveillance methods, then again wondering why they haven't caught the criminal yet. It's a cycle of fear and paranoia the cops can't win. Not that they should be left alone without oversight, but it makes us all less safe because the police are spending more time responding to these people ranting constantly then catching criminals.
Drones shouldn't be used for general surveillance without purpose or warrant. If they are used like police helicopters now, then they are fine. A great deal cheaper, easier to maintain, and if they crash not likely to take out the crew and the house under it.
