Look around, watch the news, be aware. That is all, no reason to freak out or anything just be aware or stick your head in the sand. The choice is yours.

how many democracies have survived the times? once the populace figures out it can vote in for itself a paycheck from the public treasury, the democracy is close to an end.

The point to the alert calls is that cyber terror doesnt have to mega funded, or state sponsored.

There is no question that an EMP would cause massive damage, but so would a few motivated individuals...

Which senario is more plausible and/or more likely to happen?

United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team ( http://www.us-cert.gov) states cyber attacks on U.S. government networks increased 40% from fiscal 2007 to 2008. The US-CERT responds to cyber attacks across the nation. The distributed denial-of-service attacks which began over the July 4 weekend commandeered tens of thousands of computers.

shoot a missle from the gulf of mexico over the midwest 100 miles high and it goes off and 90% of the USA will be out of power.

might be cheaper going the way of the computer, but more effective and longer lasting using emp.

You mean like National Geographic?

Their issue on solar storms this summer was amazing and 100% scientific.

A repeat of the 1859 Carrington event would knock most of the US out of power for something like 6-12months. It would be *bad*.

Or imagine if it's the far-east or Europe facing the sun when that triggers. Even that would greatly impact us.

I don't really stress out. .

My vote - not worth the energy prepping for as individuals . .to low risk.

Though,I think we should invest in hardening some key parts of the infrastructure.

Virus. . .or cyberattack. thats just going to be a step by step game of attrition. . .it will get worse every year, and we will push it back every year. I would be surprised to see it get out of hand. . .but I could be wrong.

even preppers would be effected by this. most people who do prep seriously would be less effected than those who do not at all.
