Marxist?
Do you enjoy public roads? Public services? What about public schools?

If so, you're already socialist, my friend.

However, there are other reasons for renouncing citizenship, such as international policy, unilateral aid to Israel, lack of education and health care for everyone..

So yes, there are things to consider.

Peace.

Aide to Israel is not "unilateral," the U.S. gives billions to Egypt too.

But let me put on my Bill Maher imitation costume and say, 'if you are a multi-millionaire or billionaire and are contemplating renouncing your citizenship to the country that gave you the opportunity to become a multi-millionaire or billionaire, because the marginal tax-rate on ordinary income is 39% and 20% for capital gains, you are by definition a greedy bastard.'

Actually, unilateral means to only one side. Egypt is not the "other side," just as Africa is not the other side. Unilateral means Israel but not Palestine. Big difference.

Peace.

Imagine these folks being forced to leave their homes like this. It breaks my heart. I hope all the people living in Compton, Gary (IN), Youngstown (OH), Flint, and on the south side of Chicago realize how lucky they are to know they will live the rest of their lives right where they are.

Think what you people want. So called Americans leaving the nation over paying taxes are anti-american, they absolutely hate this country and are the same type of scum Sean Penn is. Love it or leave it.

If I were the guy in charge they'd never be welcomed back. The same people who think it is cool to leave over taxes, are the same people who are against the globalism that allows these people to do this so readily. They can run their plantations from anywhere.

These colors don't run.

Since it is YOU who made the assertion, how about detailing for us how Mitt "avoided" any taxes.

You DO know the difference between INCOME and INVESTMENT taxes don't you?

Taxes are going back to the pre-Bush tax cut era, right? If it was all about higher taxes, why weren't they jumping up and down to leave the country before 2000?

OK, agreed.
But the article you cite takes into account COrporate taxes as well. I was looking at only Personal income taxes in my post, because I believe that was the intent of the OP - that a PERSON would pay less tax in other countries.
But even taking these numbers, the US is Still among the most tax-friendly nations in the world. So the conclusion remains the same - If this Mass Exodus is really happening for tax purposes, where are they going? Choices are limited.

And, BTW, I do happen to know one person who did move to a foreign country & became a citizen there & renounced US Citizenship. She did it not to avoid taxes, but rather for healthcare reasons. She was diagnosed with a crippling & long-lingering disease, and by becoming a citizen of Sweden (Much higher taxes) she would get her condition covered, whereas staying in the US would likely have bankrupted her, and she would have run out of money before she would likely have passed on. That would have forced her onto Medicaid, which would have resulted in less quality care than the long-term care she's getting in Sweden, and saving some of her hard-earned money for her children.
