Scalia overturned seventy years of settled case law in Heller. The next court can overturn anything he writes.
When's the next time a Republican president gets to nominate a justice of the Supreme Court? 2021? 2025?
With those heavy jowls, Scalia isn't exactly a model of fitness, now is he? And at 76, he's not exactly young, either. I wonder if he's keeping on top of his blood pressure.
Tick-tick-tick.
want to know about miller? the feds lied in miller. they said that a short barreled shotgun had no use in the military at all. guess what, even if that holds true, the automatic weapon does have uses in the military, national guard, organized and unorganized militias.
What would get really interesting is if Miller is shot down. It was an odd case, that affirmed the people's right to own weapons suitable for "the militia" (military arms) but allowed prohibitive taxes to be kept as a revenue source on short barreled shotguns, since no one demonstrated that they were used by the military. The odd part about the case is that no one showed up for the defense, or submitted any kind of brief. The NFA had been shot down by a federal district court. The original defendant had died, the lawyer didn't show, so only the government showed up to argue it's case...and of course won. If this gets shot down, people would be able to own automatic firearms or pieces of muffler tubing and fender washers without potentially being a felon or paying a $200 tax.
Even better would be if the '86 ban on registration of newly manufactured machine guns goes by the wayside.
The court is very close and Kennedy is the swing vote. If Kennedy does not agree its going to go liberal on gun issues.
Ah ... do you mean "closely divided", or do you mean "close" as in good friends who respect each other ? Because there's a world of difference in the answer.
Vito Scalia, rather than a Justice with class, comes across as a common, low-class neighborhood thug. When I see the poor a__hole, I always think he looks like a walking mugshot of a fat mafioso, picking his back teeth with a long nail on his pinky when people are looking away, and his heart trying to pump through arteries clogged with yellow matter. He certainly behaves like he's got a criminal record. Aren't Americans lucky to have such a Justice!
You should be proud of your stereotyping. So tell us, do you picture Thomas with a big afro and Ginsburg scamming the rest out of their wealth?
Scalia's father Eugene died aged 86 of a stroke, by which time he was a widower. Scalia is nearly 77, so he might just outlast Obama's second term, but his chance of outliving the next presidential term is less than even. Odds are, he'll be replaced by Obama's successor. I wonder what her name will be?
The sooner the better, bring prices back down. It's a joke right now. The smart ones buy stripped lowers to get the foot in the door in case something really dumb gets pushed for a year or two before it gets overturned.

It really is amazing how little class many liberals have. But when you can't argue the topic, attack the guys hair...or how he sips a bottle of water. Libbies are getting desperate.
Don't know, the working stiffs that live here don't do the tourist stuff
