I've said it before, and will continue to say it until it happens (not that I'm holding my breath on this one...) - until the officers involved in trampling our freedoms feel the burn of the consequences PERSONALLY, this will continue to happen.

Suing the department accomplishes absolutely nothing, even if the plaintiffs win, because any monies awarded come out of the department's general fund which gets refilled from tax money. At best, the officers get a slap on the wrist, and continue doing these same things over and over again.

The only way to change this on a permanent basis is to allow the officers to be PERSONALLY sued (as opposed to suing the department), and levy CRIMINAL charges against the officers where appropriate.
