Alright! Mississippi is about halfway through the 19th century now. At this rate they should pass the civil right act by about 2187...sweet.
That is the beauty of the US Constitution and the Founding Fathers...3/5th the States' legislatures needed to ratify an amendment. Mississippi could have sat on their hands for another 150 years and what difference does it make?.

True. It is symbolic and yet every other state, now Mississippi too, has ratified it. I don't think any state should even come across as tacitly accepting that chapter in our history. That's why every other state had ratified it. Not just to enact it into law but to also show complete support for an amendment that ended such an abhorrent part of our past. Sometimes symbolism matters too. And especially for a state that was such an ardent supporter of slavery and discrimination.
It's interesting in a constitutional sense, but not really news worthy.
By the way, what is a leftie like you doing taking an interest in the constitution?
Are you trying to point out your prejudice for all the world to see? I suppose only the right has a monopoly on the constitution? Keep pretending to think.
You don't know me. So trying to diminish my sentiments by calling me a leftie is typical of someone that doesn't want to make an arguement based on its merits but instead on derision. As I said, keep pretending to think.
