So my question is, its one of two things. Either the police want an AR15 to mass murder, or they know its the best choice for defense of self and others. *******s you can't have it both ways.

Wow, I wasn't aware the police "mass murder". How bizarre. In the 60's when police carried .38's and the bad guys carried .45 semi auto's, police saw they were being outgunned. They went to 9mm and .40 semi autos. Now bad guys have all sorts of military type weapons. Law enforcement is just trying to match their firepower. No big deal, unless of course, you're one of the few fringe wacko element here.

My point was not that police are mass murderers. My point was to show that if AR15s are tools of mass murder for civilians why are they not tools of mass murder for police who use them as the gun of choice to protect them-self and others? Sorry you missed it. If it were a snake it would have bit you.

Well, actually the number one used gun by police/military would be the CZ75. Which makes me think you have no clue what you are talking about. oh you must watch Fox news. that would make sense.

In the 60s, when the police carried. 38 Special revolvers, they figured out it had no stopping power. The bad guys carried all kinds of stuff, and many cops carried 1911s. The shift was to the. 357 magnum. Not 9mm and 40 SW. LAPD was the first agency to go to the 9mm, adopting the Berreta 92, same sidearm as the military. The 40 wasnt even invented till the late 90s, the LAPD, went to the Berreta in the late 80s.

Issuing AR 15s to street officers went into play after the big bank robbery shootout, Hollywood was it? And in answer to street gangs having nifty full auto firepower at their disposal. SWAT now uses the M4 heavily, as well as the HK MP5, the Steyer AUG, the SPAS 12, anx a whole bunch of other really cool, military hardware.

The AR 15in has been, and is, a highly popular rifle in civilian use. It is used for competition, hunting, personal defense and plain old plinking, when DHS isn't scarfing up as much available ammo as they can. I can't afford to shoot my AR right now. I flat don't get the mentallity of demonizing this rifle. The cops, nationwide, issue it now. Many in military trim with the nifty happy switch on the left side. If you have examined the publicized LE shootings, of late, THAT should scare you. Indiscriminate spraying of bullets has become the norm when the cops start shooting. They are bad enough with hi cap handguns. M4s ARs and M16s in LE hands does not make me sleep any better.
