Same here though I haven't made a claim of mental impairment. That's the key, if someone is found to be legally not of sound mind then they are legally not responsible for their actions and thus can't be trusted with a deadly weapon. They need care and treatment from trained professionals so that they don't injure themselves or others.

There is a legal process to determine mental competence (adjudication). It was put in place to protect the rights of individuals from arbitrary or inappropriate decisions from those in authority. The article is poorly done, it doesn't tell if these people were denied their rights by some arbitrary bureaucrat, or if the appropriate legal process was followed.

"After a determination of incompetency". I see no problem with that.

i think the original article, by michael connelly, was very successful in it's intended purpose........ stir up fear thru misrepresentation. case in point the very first sentence of the OP's link:

"This must be Barack Obama’s way of thanking our veterans for serving."

obama has neither added nor subtracted anything from the brady act (1994) nor made any statement concerning the act. yet the interwebz are a buzz as if this is some recent change.

If you people don't see the massive opportunity for abuse by that Snake-in-the-Grass Obama, you will suffer, or your offspring will suffer, the consequuences.

Trusting doctors under the employ of Obama to judge your foundational right, such as RKBA, is folly, but folly is a keystone of the *******

And for those that used the term "ruled" as in Ruled by a black man" you demonstrate your abject ignorance about America, where we are governed by laws, not ruled by men. Shame on you.

OK, then we should send that letter to everyone in the US. Not just veterans. Or just don't send it to anybody.

once again robin, this has been the law since 1994!!!

can you point to any evidence, current or past, of a vet wrongly having his ability to own guns taken away?

What the hell are you talking about? These ARE the laws that we're governed by - the VA has been around providing healthcare for veterans for a long time, and Brady Bill was made law in 1994! And now suddenly you're wetting your pants about this, just because Obama happens to be president? Get a clue.

There is always the potential for abuse in EVERYTHING. That doesn't mean that you resort to anarchy and let insane people buy guns; it means you make reasonable laws and implement them as reasonably as possible, balancing the benefits against the risks.

hmmmm...

I'm no psychiatrist. But this sounds like it could be determined to be grounds for a competency evaluation.

The past was under gtood and decent chief Executives, not a Progressiveist Swine like Obama. The world has changed. Saul Alinsky rules now. Wake up to the Fundamental Reinvention Obama promised.

Letting insane people buy guns in YOUR strawman, not mine. I never even hinted at such a thing. Shame on you.
