A copy of a letter sent from the Department of Veteran Affairs to a veteran was recently published and is raising concerns. It stated that U.S. veterans should not be allowed to own any type of firearm should they have trouble facilitating their VA benefits.
The letter, sent by the Department of Veteran Affairs and published at redflagnews.com, indicated that veterans, men and women who shed blood to protect the U.S., could be banned from owning or in any way possessing a firearm should government officials deem that action appropriate.

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea. Let's face it, too many veterans out there who have more than a few too many screws loose. I would never trust them w/a gun. Many of those veterans end up committing gun violence as well.

Well, let's think about who put them in harms way now shall we. Yeah, it's voluntary and all, but nevertheless...
The suicide rate amongst veterans alone should demonstrate that there is cause for concern regarding gun ownership of veterans at risk. Call me a nanny state liberal, but I think that veterans deserve our protection even from their own rash actions. And before you start, yeah, there are hundreds of other ways to kill oneself but few of those methods lend themselves to impulsive and successful attempts than a firearm.

As the last few mass shooters have not been veterans this won't go far enough. How about anyone who sees a therapist, mentions they're depressed, acts "odd" ( with your friendly Uncle Sam being the sole determiner of what constitutes "odd".)
Now about those folks who didn't vote for BO .......
If they show severe signs of PTSD or other psychological issues, then the VA should have authority to restrict gun ownership/possession.
We had one vet who was under extreme distress with homicidal and suicidal tendencies go to a gun range, look what happened.
People who are hallucinating or experiencing extreme depression or homicidal thoughts should not possess firearms.
