I think the list attempts to portray the quality-of-life on an average basis. If you take the case of Chicago. It is certainly true that the quality-of-life for some people in Chicago is very high. Just like the quality-of-life for many in New York City is very high. Which is why real estate prices in somewhere like Manhattan are so high.

The list is based off things like crime, unemployment rates, net immigration, etc. And many of cities, such as Chicago, are fairly miserable for a large percentage of the people who live there. Which is why so many people are getting up and leaving.

I mean, some place like Salt Lake City is probably going to be considered one of the least miserable cities in the country(based on these indicators). But if you were rich, would you move to Salt Lake City? Or Oklahoma City? Probably not.... Hell, if you were rich, you would probably rather live in Detroit than in Omaha, Nebraska.

With that said, I do think the list is somewhat important. And I think the most important factors when judging a city, are its crime rate, unemployment rate, and net migration. Obviously, if people are moving away from a city in large numbers, there is a good reason.

I got the pictures but can't change them, maybe it's my computer. FYI, calling people *******s makes some think you can't carry on an intelligent conservation without name calling.....just saying.

Seems like they focused on Michigan, Illinois, and California. Then threw in NYC because they live there.
