How did we end up with so many delusional chickensh*t citizens here who wet their panties at the thought of not being able to stockpile assault weapons? Embarrassing to say the least!

Third fact: Australia has the strictest gun laws in the western world (with the exception of Japan): ZERO mass shooting in almost 20 years.

Have a nice day.
Fact: Your wrong

Crime guns are mostly purchased by a straw purchaser or stolen. Only 13% were purchased at gun shows. The doj made this handy little chart for you.

In the same memo they also talked about how a ban on magazines and "assault rifles" amoung other things wouldn't work. You should give it a read because even the government knows gun control doesn't work. Here is a secrete about gun control for you. Gun control isn't about guns it is about control.

There are 2 points of law that are under discussion today.
Given the context of the Newtown shooting, and in the broader since, all mass shootings in America, let’s talk about some facts.

In every single mass shooting, the shooters either used guns that are not part of the Assault Weapons Ban or, they had in their possession, guns that would not be included in the AWB. Since we know this is true, we know that banning so called Assault Weapons would not have stopped them and since they seem to always pick the most unprotected (shootings always happen in no-carry locations) there is NO indication that banning these guns would have even reduced the carnage.

Second point. We have seen on this forum dozens of video links to show an active shooter is NOT deterred at all by some magazine size limit. You simply add additional magazines; there is no real impact to slow the shooter.

Third, magazine limits that do not impact an active shooter who has prepared, and can have dozens of mags. DOES in fact, limit a defensive individual attempting to protect themselves.
First, because these people are not walking around armed with dozens of mags. they generally only have what is in the gun. Second, in the case of home protection, if there is more than one assailant, the home defender will likely need the additional fire power.

the AWB and Magazine limits do NOTHING to stop killers or even to slow them down. HOWEVER these things DO limit honest citizens seeking nothing more than their own personal protection.

We don't need gun control; we need to control the people with guns.

He wants everything banned except for muskets. As long as people can own muskets, it's not gun control.

The new law means that criminals are much less likely to burgle weapons of mass destruction from homes, since fewer will have them.

The Newtown killer stole his weapons from his mother.

Well I suppose you are vastly more brave than I am. You seem to be fine with government limiting freedom for some fake reason.

We have proven beyond doubt that the Assault Weapons Ban and the Mag limit will do nothing except hurt honest people.

As for stockpiling... I own exactly 3 firearms. 1 is in another state. the two in my current possession would not fall under any proposed ban at all. Not much of a stockpile.

I do stand to inherit a very nice damascus steal double barrel black powder 12 gague that was owned by my great grand father and was the gun that both my dad and grandad learned to hunt with....

It is not about what I own. It is about what I am free to do...

ok. lets go thru this yet again. The Newtown killer, had in his possession multiple guns and plenty of ammo that would not fall under the Assault Weapons Ban. He would have been capable of doing the SAME damage with the firearms in his possession if he did not have the Bushmaster.

FURTHER, the kid was sick. If the law allowed for involentary committal this kid would likely have been in a hospital instead of shooting up a school.

The law that needs fixing is the law that allows us to help sick people before they become monsters. That has nothing to do with guns and has everything to do with mental health.
