While I agree that it is not appropriate to pit one generation against another, look at these characters we have gotten from our boomer generation:

Grover Norquist

Rush Limbaugh

Anne Coulter

Glenn Beck
TheBlaze - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jim Demint
Jim DeMint - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Need I go on....

Ok,,

Dinesh D'Souza

These folks spew idiocy day and night to ensure that boomers not only drink all the wine and eat all the food, but gorge on the seed corn too. What a bunch of self-serving douchebags.

Opportunism was pretty much frowned upon in the sixties.

i'm thinking the reason they turned out the way they did is because they weren't very popular with the "cool kids" and at the time most of the cool kids were hippies or beatniks. So now that they are older they cast a wide net of misery and fear among the children of the "cool kids" while many of the hippies of that time traded there values for bags of money and then became the ME generation that we have now.

I thought the hippies and beatniks always were rich. East Coast prep school kids spending their parents money posing and avoiding the draft on the West Coast. We still see it in the trustafarians out here to this day, panhandling as they drive around in new 4Runners bought by mommy and daddy in New Jersey. Of course, when they were done shagging on the beach and actually went to work, they wanted it all then too, so they became anti-tax warriors, letting the country's schools and infrastructure fall into ruin so they could buy that summer home at Lake Tahoe.

Not saying some hippies did not turn out to be the real deal and do great things, launching a ton of nonprofits and good initiatives, but I think many if not most were rich posers "on the scene."

Is it bash baby boomers month? Ya know, I was born when I was born, didn't really have a say in it. If I did I would have chosen 2175. But hey, I actually worked for a living, saved and paid into a retirement system so what do I know?

And you're painting an entire generation of people with your examples?

Boomers were at the forefront of civil rights, women's rights and environmentalism for starters.

The real douchebag is whomever taught you modern US history.

Your parents, etc?
Get a life, your only reason to start this thread was to bash.

Again, you don't know very much.
Don't let that stop you from making stuff up.
It's exactly what you're saying. Might want to take a look at your generation before you start pointing fingers.
