in this case it's a matter of a light pencil mark being visible from a flatbed scanner but not a hand held camera. no big mystery there.

as for the "layers", this was debunked from nearly day one:

Thank you. That was what I was after. I agree with that writer---it's hard to imagine someone good enough to create a fake that would screw up by saving an image with layers.
