You don't skew the numbers at all. For every one of you, there is probably a guy who has 15 drinks per day. The far edges of a bell curve don't skew the numbers, they make them an even distribution.
One would look at the fact that throughout history wine, ale, beer and other types of alcohol were consumed because at the time there was no such thing as clean water. Imagine being alive during the time of jefferson and having a drink of water from the local well or the local river you'd probably be either dead or sick especially considering sanitation was not something many people practiced very well. Also in that time you could die of the common cold.. so yeah take what you will of that. If you ever get the chance checkout a show called Supersizers are go there a bbc show but the dress and live the part of the time period they visit. It's also interesting to see how they ate and there daily habits, the french revolution was an interesting one. As was the 1920's and 40's

I have a weak constitution when it comes to alcohol, normally when I go out I have to force myself to drink a bottle of beer otherwise I might end up getting a gin and tonic. I still have a bottle of ouzo at home been there for about a year or two now. Also a near empty bottle of wild turkey American honey.
I would like one day to experience what it was like to drink Meade like the vikings drank not sure though which recipe is right.
Everyone at my workplace pulls the averages towards the heavier drinking side of things. At the company's white elephant gift exchange last Christmas, 75% of the gifts people bought was alcohol.

To get the right effect you'll need to do some rape and pillage, though.
Thanks to government ever taking away our freedoms over time.
