Fine, then let's get rid of straight marriage too, and and just call them all civil unions, then it will be equal. If marriage is purely a religious institution then why is the government even involved in it? Why not just have all civil unions and let people declare themselves married on a personal basis?
If you want one group to be legally married and other legally civil unions, that's not equality.
When those religious people get divorced, where do they go for dissolution of their contract?
The church (I think not), or the state.

Why does it matter that gay couples cannot reproduce ? Many hetero couples choose not to have children.
What business is it of yours who marries whom ? Such marriages do not affect you one bit (except to offend your moral universe, which, as noted, does not bind anyone else).

How about: imagine that everyone on the planet suddenly became gay, and had no interest in the opposite sex. How exactly would the human race continue to exist?
