Surely, that would save many more children than limiting magazine sizes.
Who's in favor?
Maybe 35 mph and save even more children.

For a minute I thought this thread was about a zip code.

Most accidents are preventable. Buckle up, put the cell phone down, call a cab if you've been drinking and slow the hell down.

You can't legislate common sense.

I'm sure it's high. Timothy McVeigh killed a huge number with one automobile.

32 is a good number, someone tried to pawn that off as firearm deaths....

As interesting, is that about 10K of those deaths were due to dui driving......

Apparently traffic deaths and drunk driving deaths are socially acceptable in the US as is inner city black on black crime.

Car accidents are more racially distributed I guess, so no news there.

Now if the accidents were caused by drivers cleaning guns......oh the reaction!!

32 k is a lot of lives and the response from media and society is a shrug of the shoulders. Head scratcher for sure. No political gain to be had, thus the silence.

And safer vehicles are often a result of government intervention. How do you think that the installation of seat belts in car became mandatory? Wearing seat belts? That's right. The government.

Yes, let's all bow our heads and pray to our lord ....

"Our father, who art in Washington, hallowed be thy name. Thy tyranny come, to collect our guns, else we be sent to Guantanamo Bay. Give us this day our daily bread, and never stop raising our taxes, as we shall help persecute anyone who dares to object. And lead us not into salvation, but deliver us to Satan. For thine is the Kingdom of endless war, unbridled corruption, and one world government dictatorship, Amen."

Now, dontcha feel better, like Helen ? I can feel the excitement coursing throughout my body ... all tingly. That's it ladies and germs, bow to your master .... after all, he's done such a marvelous job on the economy, and the advances toward world peace is also quite impressive, with only a few more wars to go, like annihilating those evil Iranians ... maybe the Russians and Chinese too, if they don't get with the program! Of course, that would result in Nuclear war, but hey ... you gotta break a few eggs if you want to make an omelet, right?

And let's not forget our lord and savior's faithful apostles .... such as the FDA who have done such a great job making sure our prescription drugs are safe, and only kill 200,000 people annually, hurray FDA! They've done a pretty bang up job on the food end too ... like making sure Monsanto's frankenstein-food is available nationwide, without those pesky food labels telling you that your tomato contains cockroach genes, yuk! Who wants to know that kind of stuff? Better to wash it all down with plenty of that nice FDA-EPA approved fluoridated water, then you won't have the intelligence and reasoning ability to even worry about such things. If possible, don't forget the diet coke ... aspartame is even better for you than the fluoride. I cannot fathom the thought of what we would do if we didn't have the FDA SWATT teaming those dairy terrorists attempting to destroy us all with raw milk, and those puritanical freak organic farmers producing that old fashioned food without the genetic enhancements. Let's all pray that the FDA approves the petition from the National Milk Producers Federation to add aspartame to Milk and other dairy products to make them taste better ... and don't make them label the products either!!!!

Of course, we cannot forget to praise the fine job being done at the SEC, who's tireless efforts to keep an eye on those Wall Street Crooks helped immensely to limit their ponzi financial shenanigans of phony asset creation to a paltry 50-100 Trillion dollars of toxic debt in the form of worthless derivatives and credit default swaps .... were it not for the SEC and the other crack financial wizards at the Treasury Department, who knows what those three piece suit wearing, Ferrari driving, $50 Cigar smoking delinquents might have done!

And lest we not forget how the TSA is keeping us safe by squeezing our balls and boobs and checking our boxers and panties for those sneaky little terrorists ... those little rascals can hide just about anywhere, and without Homeland Security, we'd all be dead in a matter of days. It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it ... only a twisted pervert would want a job like that, rubbing their hands up and down strangers bodies all day ...ooops ... did I let a cat out of a bag there?

Now, all that is quite impressive, but nobody can top the remarkable job that the FCC is doing .... nooo body! Those ten's of thousands of TV and Radio stations that used to be owned by countless dozens of independent and uncoordinated companies ..... all of them contradicting each other and presenting vastly different versions of the truth .... well, that was enough to confuse a fella. It's much better now that ALL OF THEM are owned by 5 mega corporations who share board members with each other, which allows them to stick with ONE version of the truth across the board ... and that's a lot less confusing.

Have I left anyone out? Oh yes ... thank you DOJ and ATF for "Fast and Furious ... because we know how furious those Mexican Drug Cartels can get when they don't get their shipments of assault rifles and RPG's fast enough. Thank you EPA for keeping our waters clean and our air safe to breath by implementing a stealth carbon tax through regulating coal out of business, and helping to fulfill Obama's promise for skyrocketing our utility bills and fuel prices, since congress didn't have the political cojones to do it legally through law making. And a special thanks for those at the EPA for not buying into all of that conspiracy theory bunk about "Chemtrails" and the dangers of Mercury and all of that other New World Order, population reduction nonsense.

And no coverage of the air would be complete without a mention going out to the FAA .... thank you FAA for finding a way to make room in our skies for the 30,000 unmanned, surveillance and weaponized drone aircraft that will soon be patrolling our skies, because inspecting everyone's boxer shorts is only a first step in protecting our safety ...

But the real champions are the ones who never get the glory they deserve, because they aren't actually, technically part of Uncle Sam's official apostles ... they are the various NGO's ... the Non-Governmental-Organizations that work behind the scenes, spending Billions of dollars each year to ensure such things as a proper curricula is offered to our children, so that they understand and appreciate the values of socialism and communism and brilliance of Saint Marx, and how that deadly poison gas that so many humans exhale is literally killing mother earth. A healthy dose of self loathing is good for the soul ....

Oh my .. I almost left out one of the most important apostles of all ..... FEMA ... my oh my, that would have been a travesty to be sure. We must really be thankful for FEMA building all those summer camps for us, just in case of an emergency should some disaster strike, requiring massive numbers of the humans needing to be relocated for their safety, should civil unrest emerge ... no doubt instigated by those domestic terrorists who keep harping about constitutional rights, and particularly that 2nd Amendment nonsense. Everyone knows that only the military and police need guns ... the rest are just a bunch of nut-jobs that might shoot someone's eye out .... and we need to think of the children!!!! Those so-called patriot prepper types who store a month's worth of food and water ... what's wrong with these nitwits anyways ... didn't they see how great FEMA did in New Orleans? Nobody died of thirst there waiting for rescue when disaster struck .... well ... not everyone died ... we did lose a few, but they were mostly poor black people, so that couldn't be helped.

Well, I know this isn't even close to a comprehensive thank you for our Lords in Washington ... they do so much for us, it's not possible to cover everything in such limited space here. As long as you realize that you simply could not live without them ... that's really all that matters.

And we have managed to reduce them dramatically since we instituted common sense "auto control" measures like seat-belt laws, air bags, speed limits, auto safety standards and public awareness campaigns against drunk driving.

Auto control works. So would gun control.

Because consumers wouldn't want safe products without government dictating them?

Kinda like it's working in Chicago?

Try telling that story to the decedents of the Indians who were massacred by the Government at Wounded Knee.

Gun control cannot work if it restricted only to a small geography. It must be a national program.

Nobody should know this better than gun enthusiasts.
