Anti-semitism in Germany is mostly a phenomenon in former East German states who did not undergo the same continued re-education as West Germany following WWII. Thus, even a casual traveler can notice a palpable difference between the two areas. That is nothing new.
Alas, the Germans (as a nation) and as individuals have a problem: Even the slightest criticism of Israel is seen as anti-Semitism. You see, neither can criticize Israel's foreign policies without large number of people immediately thinking "those Nazis." It's ridiculous but that is one of the burdens of German history.
Likewise, the German constitution grants every individual the right to be free from bodily harm. Circumcision is not seen a medically necessary procedure - it is purely religious. Add to that the perception that unnecessary medical procedures on minors are tabu, and you should have a slam dunk. Both (no bodily harm and no unnecessary medical procedures on minors) are a direct result of Nazi war crimes! The German people wanted to make sure that none of this would ever be repeated.
Thus, the German constitution would and should prohibit circumcision. But it can't - because sticking the the constitution in this particular case can only mean one thing: Anti-Semitism. No matter what!

This is a good post, and I'd also add Hitler and the Nazis are what the average American associates with Germany, as much as lederhosen and beer and wurst and oompapa music. Its become part of the mental shorthand of Americans to visualize 'German'.

Yep. It's mainly those from former East Germany. High unemployment and slowed economy. The first to get blamed for the perceived decline would be immigrants/foreigners (of which many view Jews as).
Great source What else would you expect from such a source but an utterly stupid article...
what's stupid about the article?
