The Bible does not condone slavery - the writers(inspired by God - and by extension - God) acknowledged that slavery existed, and that is the context in which you must read any reference to slavery in the Bible). We are fallen people - sinners - and one expression of that fallen state is that for much of human history we have enslaved people, and still do to this day(see human trafficking).

Exodus refers to indentured servants - they are not slaves - and a process for them to earn their freedom is outlined in the passage which you cited, much like as was in place for white, English indentured servants who became indentured servants in exchange for passage to the New World in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Jesus was not condoning slavery - he spoke often of setting the captives free - and that is exactly what he did when he died on the cross - he set us free from the bondage of sin. Jesus was acknowledging that slavery existed in the Roman Empire and using a commonly known fact to make a spiritual point(followers of Christ are supposed to be "slaves" to Christ, not to sin).

Paul in his letter to Timothy was doing something similar, he acknowledged that slavery existed in the Roman Empire and exhorted those Christian slaves to not make the faith be seen in a poor light - and thus to obey their masters -"so our name may not be slandered".

Paul was making the same point in your citation of his letter to the church in Ephesus.

As for your last Exodus reference - see my response to your Levitical reference above.

Citing the Word of the Lord without understanding, is futile.

For those who want me to take it to the religion forum - blame lycos - he cited the scripture passages to which I responded above.
My point is that there is biblical support for slavery and you think it is immoral and you think homosexuality is immoral as well. You are a funny man Harrier, a funny man.

And you KNOW what was really meant how? What we know as the Bible has been translated back and forth many languages, filtered and edited by the powers in charge throughout the years, the context could be much different than it was when written.

Doesn't the Bible say something about putting your seed in the belly of a Wh*** instead of on the ground?

Kinda odd since sex before marriage is a sin.

Did you not read my post?

I made it abundantly clear that there is no support for slavery in the Bible.

Slavery is immoral.

What, do you want to go back to the days of Jim Crow, or the antebellum South?

Leviticus 18:22 "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination." - Basically homosexuality is wrong.

Leviticus 25:44 "And as for your male and female slaves whom you may have-from the nations that are around you, from them you may buy male and female slaves." - Basically you can buy slaves so long as they are from neighboring nations.

You can not have your cake without your ice cream. If you use Leviticus to justify the hate of homosexuals, then you are a supporter of slavery.

You do understand Creationism and Evolution are not an either/or topic right?
