Barack Obama: The Democrats’ Richard Nixon?

Of course, Bartlett is saying that Obama is ideologically similar on the left/right axis as Nixon, which undercuts claims that Obama is a Marxist, Socialist, Fascist.
Uh, Woodward didn't make a fool of himself. Woodward called out the Obama administration for months about who was actually responsible for the sequestration and then after months of denial they finally came out and said that they were in fact responsible for the idea of sequestration.

They didn't like that all that much and the response from the White House to Woodward when he called them out again was in-kind to many of the attacks they've made on others.

Yelling and screaming at reporters because they won't tow the party line isn't very presidential. In fact it's pathetic, petty and childish. It shows the atrocious ego that the Obama administration has and it's almost to the level of group narcissism.

I mean, Jesus Christ, it's Bob Woodward. The Left worshiped him until he started questioning Dear Fuhrer. Now he's a GD pariah.

If anything Obama will be more like FDR. Both came into similarly dire circumstances left to them by Republican presidents, and both will lift the country back by the end of their tenure.

Any mention of the Great Depression conjures up images of unemployed masses queuing in bread lines and frantic crowds trying to withdraw money from banks. And yet these illustrations tell only part of the story. The Great Depression was undoubtedly the most severe economic downturn in the United States and caused untold suffering among millions. To contextualize it, national output fell by about 33 percent and consumer prices plummeted by over 25 percent between 1929 and 1933; one in four workers was unemployed by 1933. The resulting protracted slump only ended at the onset of World War II. In contrast, during the Great Recession of 2007-09, national output fell by only 5 percent, consumer prices increased by 1 percent, and unemployment peaked at 10.1 percent.

His economic policies are as effective as Carter and his petulant behavior towards the press is like Nixon. WTF is so hard to understand about that? I mean, I know you guys have a one-size-fits-all mentality but the rest of the world works entirely different than your simplistic little minds.

Pres Obama has compared himself to Ronald Reagan, an ideologue and transfomative figure, and I think that is a more accurate comparison. Nixon was not much of an ideologue. He arguably would have been to the left of Obama w/ his wage and price controls, advocacy of a national handgun ban, etc.

Nixon was a foreign policy genius while Obama so far appears to be an FP dolt (failure of 'Arab Spring' efforts). Both Nixon and Obama became entangled in DOJ spy scandals (Watergate, Fast & Furious), but Obama had the media on his side.

In the end I think these comparisons fall apart. Nixon was Nixon, Reagan was Reagan, and Obama is Obama.
