Why does this thread remind me of a bad Rodney Dangerfield joke?
"Take California ... PLEASE!"

You haven't addressed my points about how federal money spent OUTSIDE the state like Hoover Dam....provides an enormous benefit for California....but it doesn't show up in thier ratios of tax paid to benefit. Ditto for storing your nuke waste in other states and the list goes on and on.

I have a feeling that you read about those misleading ratios and perhaps need to weigh some additional factors?

Also, you've made some rather strong statements in your earlier posts so to cry foul that someone is attacking back generally doesn't look good and you might consider just ignoring the post.

Stop being silly. California would not stand a chance on its own. If every state secedes from DC then we can create a new capital. States are going to have to work together in mass numbers if we're going to accomplish anything. If this country is going to fight back people are going to have to plan something that can counter the treasonous threat in DC. Seceding seems like running more than fighting back. The states are going to have to be creative, and every states is going to need a lot of prayers. We don't stand a chance without Gods help.

Sow the resistance seed in Ohio. We'll clear a path right to DC. WE'LL SMACK YOU RIGHT IN THE MOUTH ON YOUR BIG STAGE.

Bush is too stupid to realize that the reason the world hates the US and the reason terrorists want to blow up the US is because the US government has a history of doing stupid things like the war in Iraq. If we didn't do things like destroy Iraq terrorists would not be after us. Why should the hard earned money of the blue states go to pay for the stupid decisions of the idiot leaders elected by the red states?

Imagine how much better we could make the schools, infrastructure, environment, economy and other things in California if we invested all of the tax money the Federal government steals from us to blow up Iraq and instead invested that money in making California a better place.

California should not sit back and watch the rest of the country drag us down with them. We Californians should rise up, demand our independence, and create a much better California.
Unbelievable that people really believe that hooey...........

I agree, California would devolve into a third-world nation on its own. What you are describing has already been taken into consideration by the Founding Fathers and incorporated into the US Constitution under Article V.

Quote:
...on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof...
When DC ceases to be representative of the people, then it is the responsibility of the state legislatures to intercede on the people's behalf.

How are you going to convince all the people who believe that the government can do no wrong to be on the same page as you?
