Now why in the world would homeland security need 2700 armored vehicles for use in the US?
They need to keep law abiding citizens in line.

Jan 9/12: An $879.9 million firm-fixed-priced delivery order for the procurement of 2,717 MaxxPro “rolling chassis”; 10 engineering change proposals; and 25 contract data requirements lists, for MaxxPro MRAPs.
This is the 3rd step in commonizing the MaxxPro fleet. The first step was the addition of DXM independent suspension in February 2009, which has appeared on all orders after #0014. It was followed in March 2010 by 1,222 DXM retrofit kits. Now, the rolling chassis is the 3rd step, which upgrades most of the earlier MaxxPros with the latest vehicle capabilities. We asked Navistar, who explained that “rolling chassis” replaces the chassis base, adding the DXM independent suspension, a new MaxxForce 9.3 engine, and a 570 amp alternator and driveline. The crew cab is essentially lifted off the old chassis, and bolted on to a new one.
Work will be performed in West Point, MS, and is expected to be complete by the end of October 2013. All funds will expire at the end of the current fiscal year, on Sept 30/12 (M67854-07-D-5032, DO #0023).
I searched back through July 13 and didn't find squat.

There was a solicitation/bid for armored car services, but that was Dunbar (who transports cash in armored cars).

Lots of ammo, especially steel-jacketed hollow points.

But the bigger question -- and this is the question the mainstream media refuses to even ask -- is WHY does DHS need:

• 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition
• 7,000+ assault rifles
• 2,700+ armored assault vehicles

Unless you're insane or a denier, the answer is clear: DHS is expecting a large-scale domestic conflict.

And it could have to do with an economic collapse. It is amazing how some people don't do any critical thinking.

I hope it doesn't happen, but it is not far fetched.

Wait. They are to protect us from the Taliban. Remember during the election period, Rick Sanitorium said the Taliban had a base in the Gulf of Mexico.

That would give the government a good excuse to roll out martial law. Now, if ther are people who think that Obama's policies are intentionally designed to "level the playing field" economically (does that mean 'bring down the economy' to that of other countries?) then they would think that things are right on schedule. I believe Obama did say that things are moving in the right direction.

So far all I'm seeing from the 'leaners' is the reply of 'tin foil hat, RWNJ, CRAZY CONSERVATIVES.

What pray tell then does Local LE need that much ammo and armor for? And don't give pat answers (border patrol, target practice, blah, blah, blah).

Keep an eye on Greece, they are foretelling our story.

Quote:
A clear majority of lawmakers in the Greek parliament voted for the tax hikes that are hoped will boost revenues by €2.5bn (£2.1bn) in 2013 and 2014. The tax rises were approved by the parliament in a session that finished in the early hours of this morning.

"It is a bill of fiscal necessity and responsibility, required for us to get our next bailout tranche," Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras said.

The approval of the bill is key as it was one of the conditions that Greece had to meet for the nation to receive €14.7bn of additional rescue loans by the end of March.

However, critics of the tax increases, which also include the scrapping of a number of tax exemptions, have attacked the legislation for the impact it will have on struggling Greeks, who have protested against the country's tough austerity measures.

"This is a bill that puts into action a plan of destitution. 700,000 Greeks can't pay their electricity bills, there are 3 million poor people in our country and 57 percent of our youth is unemployed," said Panos Kammenos, head of the anti-bailout Independent Greeks party.
