Another way to look at it is that to teach a more balanced perspective would be to destroy the prevailing narrative of European as original and only colonizer ever, bringer of death and destruction, subjugation and misery.

I've never believed in the idea that Europeans were the only oppressors in history. I do believe that those who brought Europe here are the principal oppressors here in the Americas since, say, the arrival of Columbus.
I would not be surprised, because I know that. I think more Europeans and Americans would be surprised, because they've been led to believe that Africans were too stupid to have been able to do that.

Like other posters have already mentioned, no group of people have any claims to moral superiority or saintly status.
A major factor driving the Barbary pirates was their expulsion from the Iberian peninsula in the 1st place, not to mention all the fire & brimstone religious flack they caught before the expulsion.

We already have academic fields along those lines, one is called AFRICANA Studies and the other is the growing field of Saharan Studies.
Ok so after seeing US Census 2010 it is very clear thet white non hispanic population is shrinking... (well it isnt but its not growing as fast as latino or asian population). Does that fact worry you? How do you think it will shape the future for America? Will it become more liberal and open minded because of immigration or more conservative as most latinos are usually christian?
In many large cities non hispanic whites are already a minority eg; Houston is only 26% white non hispanic (although suburbs tend to be mostly white/ asian)
Los Angeles is 28% non hispanic white, Chicago 31% and Las Vegas 48% non hispanic white.
Do you see this as a good thing? do you mind it? Or maybe it is something that you would rather stop?
And this is not meant to be a racist thread or anything like that, I dont mind what race my neighbor would be as long as they were respectful.
i always find it funny when americans complain about immigrants... unless you are a native american you should just keep quiet coz you are an immigrant yourself, mixed blood of many european nationalities if youre white or african ones if you are black. Usa is a country of immigration, all of your ancestors started in exact same way, and they also had to deal with racism
As people gain more wealth, the less kids they have. Overtime the Latino population growth rate will plateau as they gain more economic status and wealth.
