They are lefties and are trying to develop nukes.

If Chavez was not such a leftie, then all the lies and propaganda about him would not exist.

Why should the media be allowed to lie anyway?

Maybe just approve Keystone XL from us Canadians and we are each others best friend and pretty sure Venezuela has cut back or stopped selling their oil to us and actually are growing so fast that they need it themselves and Canada and the U.S. have the largest Oil reserves and we have not even tapped the deep offshore Arctic Reserves yet.

how about if Maduro decides to buy a whole load of weaponry from Russia and China well first off Russia and china compete to sell fighter planes and more higher end expensive and advanced Military weapons to countries we do not sell too

But heck I would buy from planes and helicopters from Russia since China has weird looking planes and the SU-27 Flanker and the modern variants are as nice looking on par with the F-15 and F-18 in terms of classic 4th Gen fighters go for looks and have proven they can pull off some pretty agile maneuvers and have been in service for decades while Chinas latest planes have not been proven in any combat role and India flies Russian SU-30Mki and MKII versions of the flanker and they used them to take out Pakistan's military during the 1999 Kargil war and they kicked Pakistan's butt.

What if a bucket of rocks fell on your head?
Do you know a damned thing about Venezuela? I don't, and I was there a couple of times, when when the country was run by a military junta. Now if a bunch of Venezuelan generals didn't see the need for nukes, and Hugo Chavez didn't see any need to buy nukes, what it the world makes you think Maduro, who is much more sane than Chavez was and no egomaniac like Hugo, want nuclear weapons?

Venezuela isn't fighting with it's neighbors, and it's not picking a fight with us. This 'what if' is nonsense at it's worst. Didn't you learn anything from the Iraq debacle?

I'm on your side here , I think.

the 'what if' is directed towards the Chavez bashers.

Most of the press have had a field day saying how 'undemocratic' Venezeuala is, but just a brief scratch under the surface shows those allegations to be false.

OK, it may not be as open as some Western democracies but that is just the way in most of the rest of the World

Shhhh! Don't mention the bomb word, you may wake McCain from his nap.

Your answers here will depend on who will make money from it or not. Modern wars are fought for the profit of a few, not a political ideology.

Democracy means sometimes people elect leaders you don't like. If we really support Democracy, instead of just give lip service, we respect other people's choices.

Moreover, what makes you think we have the right to decide other country's leaders?

So unilaterally adjusting the country's Constitution to remain on top is now democratic?

Proposition 8 was also Democratic, therefore I assume you support the majority denying the pursuit of happiness for gays.

If we didn't bomb Chavez, how is this guy any different?

Hey, for a second let's assume Chavez had ONLY the best interests of venezuela at heart,

You cannot deny that he consolidated power with his having complete control over the oil fund monies for example. (No congressional approval needed, he could just write checks etc.)

What's going to happen to Venezuela the first time a power-hungry jerk that doesn't care about the people gets in office since Chavez has set the stage for just that.

Wait for it, maybe it won't be this guy....but it's going to happen. It's inevitable.
