I have respect for his wife, who has fought so hard to come back from her horrific injuries.
But I don't respect those who manipulate her injuries to further a political agenda, who do the exact opposite of what they say they believe in, and who then lie about it all. I feel bad for the suffering they've gone through but that ends when they try to force their opinions and beliefs on others.
If he wants to own an AR 15, thats fine although he'd be a hypocrite unless he officially comes out as being opposed to gun banning.
If he was doing it to make a statement, that was kind of pointless and poorly thought out.
Actually he may not be supposed to even be able to purchase one, theres a growing movement to ban many law enforcement and government agencies from purchasing these weapons and only allow them to be sold to civilians and private citizens. The gun manufacturers are starting to fight back and they have the american people on their side.
If the police and federal agencies want them they'll have to buy them someplace where they don't have background checks or they'll have to obtain them illegally.
I hope the PD rejects his "gift" of the AR and its magazines. Given their current market values, most Joe Sixpacs likely wouldn't be able to afford such largesse. Must be nice to be a part of the upper-crust pushing decisions that affect us mere commoners.
