Awesome! Wish more people would grow a big enough set to call out the media when they are full of it. Claire Shipman is one of the most sensationalistic journalist an network television today. Nice to see Arnold wasn't having any of it.

Quote:
SHIPMAN: So, you think the comparison to Katrina that everybody's making in the back of their mind these days is a good one in terms of state and federal.

SCHWARZENEGGER: All you have to do is just look around here and see how happy people are. No one is screaming. No one is complaining about anything.

SHIPMAN: Well, you're saying everybody's working together, but you have heard there have been some complaints from officials. For example, in Orange County who say, 'If we'd only had more resources earlier, more planes, more firefighting resources, we might have been able to head off the fires ravaging Orange County right now.'

SCHWARZENEGGER: Anyone that is complaining about the planes just wants to complain because it's a bunch of nonsense. The fact is that we have all the planes in the world here. We have 90 aircraft here and they can't fly because of the wind situation. Trust me when I tell you, you're looking for a mistake and you won't find it because it's all good news, as much as you maybe hate it, but it's good news. Trust me, okay?

Even I have to admit that Arhnuld is one of the brighter Republicans. But that does not take very much.

I saw that clip - Arnold did a great job of shutting her down!

Heck, even California's Senior Senator has had to admit that the response to this tragedy is well coordinated and people are working very well together and that there are PLENTY OF RESOURCES

I think Arnold is pretty much an independant that ran on a Republican ticket. He does not let the left or right control his ideas. While I strongly oppose some of his ideas, I also strongly support some.

Either way, it was funny watching him refuse to allow Shipman to make a gloom and doom story out of this. For as big of a natural disaster as this is, so far the people have been managed well with minimal injuries, and so far I believe only 5 deaths. Thats pretty amazing considering the magnitude and intensity of the fire coupled with the high population of the areas where it is burning.

The media loves to gloat over train wrecks and screwups. I think we can all agree Katrina was a screw up, either at the federal or state level people were not co-operating to prevent a dangerous situation. OTOH, California was prepared and you can't spin it into doom and gloom. There are just some laws of nature that say planes can't fly during high wind conditions.

California is hanging together, with a responsive Governor & Lt. Governor.

Good for them, and my deepest best wishes to all in or near the fires and destructive areas.

And, yup no political agenda, just a caring team!
