The jobs for which they were qualified went overseas. They are not qualified for the remaining, higher skill level jobs.

I will never vote for any candidate be it democrat or republican that runs around saying we need to raise taxes.

Raising taxes is the only thing Obama knows.... "middle class americans will not pay one more dime in taxes" or so Obama said. Will you believe him again.

Raise taxes, raise taxes, raise taxes, raise taxes, raise taxes, raise taxes, raise taxes, raise taxes, raise taxes, raise taxes, raise taxes, raise taxes, raise taxes, raise taxes, raise taxes,
We're on the same page. I didn't believe him at all. Twice!

I think raising taxes makes the situation far worse and now tack on the AHA. Many more will be unemployed/underemployed.

Default Chaos

Food Stamps and Public assistance are the only thing that keep the USA from becoming a part of the third world. We would have riots, soaring crime waves and danger if these people would resort to stealing in order to survive...

In addition, many workers are paid so little that they are eligible for the program. Don't like that, raise the minimum wage.

Moreover, the population is growing.

2. lowest work force participaiton in 50 years

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

conservative farmers in conservative states are huge supporters of illegal immigration, because they don't want to pay Americans to pick crops.

conservatives overwhelmingly support free trade, TTIP, TPP, CAFTA and NAFTA.

the legislation that repealed glass-steagall was the Gramm-Leach-Bliley act -- named after Phil Gramm (Republican from Georgia), Jim Leach (Republican from Iowa), and Tom Bliley (Republican from Virginia).

On the thread topic, "If the economy is getting so much better, why isn't our food stamp program shrinking?" according to the Wall Street Journal:
Food-Stamp Use Is Now the Lowest Since 2011 - Real Time Economics - WSJ

The fact that it is shrinking undercuts the assertion that it isn't.

If I was wrong, what was I wrong about? I cited verifiable sources.

Landlords want a permanent dependent class - a class of rent slaves dependent on landlords. Soaring rents plus stagnant wages = more food stamps.
