I didn't know Steve Rattner could make this much sense. This is the best work he's ever done...and he leaves fellow Democrats in the Senate and House, and President Obama, in the dust on needed entitlement reforms.

Rattner is an idiot if he thinks Social Security is an "entitlement". Social Security represents 15% of ones income for all the years the individual worked, paid equally by the employer and employee,...and if that individual dies before retirement age he gets "ZERO", nada,...zilch.

Social Security was supposed to be a "hands-off, lock-box" proposition that the politicians couldn't touch,...until the democrats changed that philosophy years ago. Presently, seniors receive a portion of what they paid into the "system" over their entire lives,...only to have the government once again withhold a portion of those previously-taxed dollars as income tax. In addition, another portion of the senior's social security check is withheld to pay a monthly premium for Medicare,...in addition to the medicare taxes the individual has paid over the previous five decades.

Entitlement my ass........
