Business as usual for many conservatives. They are so self-absorbed that they cannot

- empathize.
- look past the rim of their own plate.
- believe that anyone could be different than they are.
- think of circumstances where an all-or-nothing approach is not applicable/desirable/feasible.

UNLESS it hits close to home.

I wonder if it is a lack of intellect or simply a genetic inability to put oneself into another person's shoes.

At least there seems to be hope that some of these people CAN learn. Naturally, if everything requires personal exposure and people cannot use their brains to imagine that there are varying circumstances, needs, wants, desires, etc, hope for change might as well be futile

I've always thought that the right invented the pejorative term "bleeding heart liberal" because they realized they were lacking in normal human feelings and wanted to make that seem good by comparison.
