No its not an article by The Onion, but at the most hilarious get together of conservatives since the GOP 2012 primaries, a Tea Party "Patriots" event organized to reach out to black voters got disrupted by Tea Partiers shrouded in the confederate flag. The ensuing events were hilarious !

Scott Terry of North Carolina, accompanied by a Confederate-flag-clad attendee, Matthew Heimbach, rose to say he took offense to the event’s take on slavery. (Heimbach founded the White Students Union at Towson University and is described as a “white nationalist” by the Southern Poverty Law Center.)

“It seems to be that you’re reaching out to voters at the expense of young white Southern males,” Terry said, adding he “came to love my people and culture” who were “being systematically disenfranchised.”

Smith responded that Douglass forgave his slavemaster.

“For giving him shelter? And food?” Terry said.

I hope the Tea Party never leaves the GOP!

The sheer number of things that require absolute pants crapping panic—the fast-moving, rock-strewn river of things that are about to cause the imminent destruction of America or of the Good Conservatives within it, is uncountable, and the effort it must take is enormous.

Republican dogma requires multiple exclamation points of alarm over the United Nations, all of government, Democrats, liberals, communists, atheists, Muslims, insufficiently Christian Christians, Christians of dubious sects, the media, Hollywood, Obamacare, brown people, immigrants, sex, homosexuals, uppity women, all of Europe (both as entity and as abstract concept), everywhere that is not Europe, climate scientists, biologists, environmentalists, economists, college professors, bilingual people, urban dwellers, campaign finance advocates, community organizers, several American cities and certain unpleasant history books.

No wonder nuts like Wayne LaPierre imagine that an American collapse and dystopia is just around the corner; all of modern civilization is apparently etherial, or ephemeral, or a cruel plot. We are always one health insurance law away from government-sponsored camps, or one overly-tanned immigrant away from genetic or cultural Armageddon.

My IQ dropped 40 points from just reading the lineup of panels, speakers and topics at this years TeaPAC.

All that pales in comparison to the fact that liberals believe paying women to birth bastards is a good thing.

What's funny to me is you using an article that shows how non racist the Tea Party is in an apparent attempt to show that the Tea Party is racist.

The Tea Party is so racist that they had a special conference on how to reach out to black people and when white supremacists interrupted it, they were asked to leave. If you want to show the Tea Party as racist, this article wasn't the way to do it.

Oh, I definitely give credit to the Tea Party Patriots that they organized an event to tone down their racist elements (they have now realized its a problem) - its just funny that their White Supremacist members decided to gatecrash the party and said that their "interests" weren't being taken care of by this black voter outreach

Yes I agree that the guys draping themselves in Confederate flags and talking about their interests being neglected were idiots and losers.

The fact that the TP needs to hold this conference at all is the problem. They can't grasp that if they fear women and minorities and thus try to control them, then women and minorities will continue to vote for everyone else.

Women and minorities will vote for conservatives the day they stop with the anti-abortion, anti-immigrant, and anti-gay nonsense. Until then, please continue to lose elections.
