"(Reuters) - Syria's government and rebels accused each other of launching a deadly chemical attack near the northern city of Aleppo on Tuesday in what would, if confirmed, be the first use of such weapons in the two-year conflict. U.S. President Barack Obama, who has resisted overt military intervention in Syria, has warned President Bashar al-Assad that any use of chemical weapons would be a "red line". There has, however, been no suggestion of rebels possessing such arms.
Syria's state television said rebels fired a rocket carrying chemical agents that killed 25 people and wounded dozens. The pro-opposition Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which monitors the conflict, said 16 soldiers were among the dead.
The most notorious use of chemical weapons in the Middle East in recent history was in the Iraqi Kurdish city of Halabja where an estimated 5,000 people died in a poison gas attack ordered by former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein 25 years ago.
No Western governments or international organizations confirmed a chemical attack in Syria, but Russia, an ally of Damascus, accused rebels of carrying out such a strike."
"Britain said its calculations would change if a chemical attack had taken place. A Foreign Office spokeswoman said it would "demand a serious response from the international community and force us to revisit our approach so far"."
Translation............fuel up the NATO fighters. Libya II occuring before our eyes. Wonder who the ******* will be who volunteers to be the new Ambassador to Syria?? Those same "rebels" seem to be running around yet again. You know the same "rebels" who kidnapped UN peacekeepers a while back and nobody batted an eyelash about. Wonder who flew em over to Syria. Must be Hanoi John since Hillary hit her head and can't remember anything that happened in Libya. Wonder if the ketchup meiser will hit his head on his yacht after the fallout in this one???
Well if the chemicals drift into turkey then NATO is involved because turkey is a NATO member and they would lead the ant military intervention with NAT helping support them and be some of using their Military bases and Airstrips to stage and launch air strikes but chemical weapons are WMD and can be carried long distances by wind and cause u-intended health risks to food and water supplies But Syria has become a failed state and putting troops on the ground would be nuts and let Assad and the Rebels fight till one group wins then go from there after and deal with the winner when the war ends or one side gives up.
I mean the now 2 year war Turing into a 8-10 year dragged out civil war is going to be a huge economic and Refugee problem but a long as it stays in Syrian within their borders then it is a Civil war either Assad will win or the Rebels will and getting sucked in to fight another war in the ME would be stupid but maybe China can help out on this one since they should get some hands on experience dealing with the ME.
If so, we will probably intervene, maybe not directly, but assuredly with more defensive weapons against air attack to the rebels. Perhaps a no fly zone. We may indeed send in troops to secure the chemical weapons.

It is a very sad situation in Syria especially with the use of chemical weapons. But I don't expect to see any great change in the Western countries' attitude to the civil war in Syria.
We have one problem....obama drew a red line about wmd's......but like most of his promises, they do not mean jack. This is one time that I'm glad that we will do nothing.
The best thing to do when you see a meatgrinder is to keep your hand out of there, rather than jamming it in and trying to stop its blades with your arm-bones.
Both sides are accusing the other of using chemical weapons so we do not know who did what. And that is the way it should stay and be filed in the who gives a rats a$$ department.

We {America} should stay out of it.
Until more data or intelligence is gathered, the use of chemical weapons is alleged.
The statement by Yuval Steinitz, the newly appointed minister of intelligence and strategic affairs, conflicts with U.S. assessments that there is no evidence behind accusations traded the day before between Syrian rebels and the Bashar Assad regime of a chemical weapons attack in a village in the north of the country.
Steinitz, who was speaking to Army Radio, did not say how he came to the conclusion that the weapons were used. He would not comment on whether it was Assad forces or the rebels that used them, saying it was not important.
I don't care which side did it.....we should shrug our shoulders and let them figure it out.
