I know lots and lots of Republicans who are collecting some type of government entitlements - many that post in this forum if you read a bit.

Gawd - what dregs on society they are!

Oh boy... somebody dozed off in econometrics class.

Or pretends to know stuff...

Tell me, if I can demonstrate that my yearly earnings are at least double yours, will you let me call you a piece of scum?

Will you bow down and apologize to your superior ? After all contributing ''nothing'' is relative... if your contributions are just a fraction of mine...

So, after your reply to my aging hippie friend, you're alluding or saying your cousin is a scumbag.

Let's eithanize that person first then, might as well start with the one who screams the loudest, right?

Quite easily. You see..I'm a person, and whether I'm contributing or not, I'm still a person. You work for me to live. That makes you my slave. And honestly, I need a slave. If you're willing to take on that role, I'm not complaining.

The question is, why do you work for me? Am I just that much better than you? I guess so...

If the OP was talking about welfare, why wasn't the original question more specific? The original post is quoted in full above, and there's no mention of welfare.

A "check from the taxpayers" includes retired teachers, and cops, and firefighters, and people who served this country in the military. Some may continue to contribute to society through volunteering and so forth, but others may simply be "enjoying the good life" they worked so hard to achieve. If they enjoy good health as well as the good life, I suspect they have no problem at all living with themselves without contributing to society any longer.

But, assuming that the OP was talking strictly about those on welfare who are healthy, would unemployment checks be considered welfare for this ill-defined thread? Lots of people receive such checks from the government, and are out looking for work every day.

And while I'm no fan of welfare - during my career I had way too strong of a work ethic to ever totally understand those who seem to live their entire lives on welfare and/or "game" the system so as to extract the maximum benefit with a minimum of effort - I also realize that there are healthy individuals on welfare who legitimately try their best to better themselves and their situation. I don't think this is a huge percentage, but such people do exist.

I think there are unfortunately plenty of people who are physically healthy and have NO problem at all being supported by the state while contributing nothing. I don't understand them - I can't and won't defend them.
