That's such a specious argument, and you know it. If guns weren't especially lethal, why do you need one? Why do soldiers not use bow-and-arrows, and throw knives at each other like Ninja's? Guns are cheap, effective, convenient, mobile, easy for even an idiot to use, available everywhere, and you don't need any special skill or physical prowess or even be close to your victim to kill them. You know that. This post is a FAIL!

Gee, why not just break in and tickle them to death.

One doesn't need TNT. We have google now. You can learn how to build a nuke if you want.

Nor do you need any special skills to acquire one to commit crimes like murder. You call 911 and wait. I'll fight fire with fire.

The unit I was in, in the service, had some small, but very powerful crossbows. Effective, and very quiet. And, we had guys that could throw knives almost as well as we could shoot a bolt out of a crossbow. Want to try again?

You can build the nuke. You just can't find any material to load it with. No good without the fissionable material.

A knife is one on one combat. Guns can take out multiple people at once before they even have a chance to defend themselves.
