The star middle linebacker for the Long Beach Poly High School Football team had a full-ride scholarship to play for the University of Southern California Trojans, alongside Matt Leinhart and Reggie Bush. However, things quickly changed for the worse when Wanetta Gibson, then 15, accused Banks of rape and kidnapping her on the campus.

After being imprisoned for five years and spending another five as a registered sex offender in California, Brian Banks was finally cleared of the rape and kidnapping charges.

Gibson admitted that she lied and was willing to help Banks clear his name. But there was just one problem she sued the School and would have to pay back the $1.5 million award money from the Long Beach Unified School District of if Banks?

Gibson Blew Her Entire $1.5 Million & is on welfare.

Crap like this makes my blood boil! I can't even begin to imagine how Mr. Banks must feel. This scumbag basically destroyed his life.

I take rape accusations very seriously! Having said that, when stuff like this happens, the one who falsely accused the person of rape should face charges.

I wonder what he was convicted on. Someone's word isn't good enough. Why would someone convict some guy on some girl's word: 'He raped me." There had to be some other evidence.

No reason to punish her though. If the vast minority of men would not rape, then we would not need to punish all men, and create the cash incentives for wrongful accusations. Nor would we have to put her through the agony of a Roseanne Roseannadanna never mind after mobilizing the police and court systems along with wrongful imprisonment. Just say I plan to emigrate. No need to punish rape reputation... .

He plead "no contest" on the advise of his attorney, therefore taking a life sentence off the table.

If I was him, I'd want to kill her. She deserves to be in jail for the length of his given sentence. That applies to anyone who lies under oath in attempt to convict someone.

I'm curious what the evidence was. Like I said, I don't believe anyone in this country would be convicted on heresay alone. Were there other witnesses? Why did they JUST take her word.
