I heard this report recently. I think it opposes what many in the mainstream media try to say. But I think that more and more people's eyes are being opened and are seeing what the mainstream media truly is:
a wing of the Democrat party.

What do you think?

I think that's really quite silly. I can understand why Republicans may want to deceive themselves into thinking that is the case, as rationalization for why they increasingly lose on such issues. We even see the delusion spreading to ridiculous self-serving conspiracy theories with regard to the results of other balanced measures of the American perspective, even so far as the elections. It's that old "let's play do-over until I win" attitude of the schoolyard bullies, projected into adulthood - the unwillingness to accept that one lives in a world with others and that their perspectives matter as much as the bully's.

Rights are not something that are given or taken away by majority opinion.

Many conservatives (part of that 70% of republicans) likely base their opposition to gay marriage on the Bible. Let their churches ban gay marriage if they feel the need to do so. Let these people get married at city hall. The Bible has nothing to do with that.

My denomination marries gay people in states where it's legal--they bless unions otherwise. I also have a gay pastor. It's only the denominations who believe in a literal, line by line, interpretation of the Bible, vs. viewing scripture in context, that have a problem with gay marriage. If a denomination doesn't want to marry gay people that's fine--they don't have to. They just shouldn't have the right to tell the rest of us what to do, or to ban civil ceremonies.

So the OP wants to ignore the 30% of Republicans who must support gay marriage?

I heard that the Moon is made of Swiss Cheese. But I don't believe it. Why would believe something you don't know is true, or haven't seen factual evidence ... just because someone told you it was?
