Republicans have always had a hard time winning elections because they always need Florida + other swing states. Trump and DeSantis setting up shop in Florida gives them the ability to make it a permanent red state.
The brilliant thing was that DeSantis kept Florida open when almost everywhere else shut down. Now, there is a highly populated state that proves the Democrats were WRONG about EVERYTHING in terms of pandemic response. The left needlessly and pointlessly destroyed countless businesses, lives, and children and have yet to admit it. They won't, but what happened in Florida proves them 100% wrong. Anyone not a partisan liberal hack can see it and will remember it in the voting booth.

The Democrats will double down on being stupid, In WA state public schools are still closed and probably won't open till Fall.

Hardly a red state but they have elected republican governors for 20 years, now it's some sort of miracle. Florida is heading blue just like Texas but keep fooling yourself that this is the beginning of a red state. How much did DeSantis win Florida by even with massive Trump support, a few tenths of a percent to an unknown but dream on if it makes you feel better.

Desantis has a voter approval rating in the 50's and he is in no threat to be beaten in an election; Florida Democrats are in a tough spot to beat him. Florida isn't dark red by any means, but if you put it up for election in 2024 right now, I'd say there's a Republican lean there. Of course, it could be the Trump effect; Ohio certainly won't be as far to the right as it was in '16 and '20. Florida's gone blue recently, so if anything it's probably heading right as of right now...

Nope. The people moving in and out decide Fl. We are a very transient state - sorry to say. But from our hurricanes to other weather like bad snow etc in other states - or like Puerto Rico for with Maria, and now Covid -people are on the move. Where the Reps have a hold is the Bible Belt and the older Cubans.
Florida is never going to be permanent red, Florida is not Trump country.
Plenty of people here also split their vote, for example, I voted Obama, Hillary, and Biden, yet voted for Scott and DeSantis. I voted for Biden this time, yet voted for a Republican rep (Salazar)
