Believe it or not the republican governor/house are pissing me off. Cutting the funds to the library and we are having to sign a petition to save the budget, cutting school funding....its just frustrating...hard to find work here. Lease is up in September then its month to month may leave then if we can may wait till next February when we get more money coming in.

I am curious why you won't say which state you live in? It is hard to figure out what you are talking about without knowing which state you are referring to.

It takes regulations into consideration. So states where it's legal for restaurants to put **** in the soup get a better rating then those where there are regulations about such things

Those rankings are a complete joke. It's basically just partisan right wing ideologues claiming they have a monopoly on "freedom" while in reality they couldn't be further from it.

Lightbulb From the link...

"We score all 50 states on over 200 policies encompassing fiscal policy, regulatory policy, and personal freedom. We weight public policies according to the estimated costs that government restrictions on freedom impose on their victims."

So, more than anything else, it's a list ranking states in order of how much they favor the corporations over the public.

I'm in shock. I"ve lived in Connecticut for 13 years and Massachusetts for 10 years before that. And I NEVER realized how imprisoned I am! I am SO not free! Omigod, what shall I do? [panic, panic] My life is over. I'll never enjoy my nice home, good job and pleasant, well-educated community and neighbors again. It's all ruined.

That is as important as the original link, imo. How they are calculating 'freedom' is perhaps more important than their results.

For example, a state's fiscal policy (taxes, spending, gov employment, etc) is more heavily weighted than the personal freedoms a person has in their state. The fiscal policy also carries more weight than a state's regulatory policy which also ranks above an individual's actual freedoms.

They admit everyone may count freedoms differently. Looking at their list, I dang sure agree with that statement. The rest of it boggles.
I completely agree. Between tax rates and "tort reform" (which just means you don't have the right to sue if a corporation screws you) you have 40.1% of the weighting of their list so it really is just politically motivated nonsense which has little to nothing to with freedom and instead that is just a tag line added to fool the gullible and the stupid.
