A jury on Friday decided that a woman convicted of killing an expectant mother and cutting her baby from her womb should receive the death penalty.

Lisa Montgomery wiped tears from her eyes as a jury said she should get the death penalty.

Jurors deliberated for more than five hours before recommending the sentence for Lisa Montgomery

Prosecutors argued that Stinnett's killing and mutilation is the kind of crime for which capital punishment is intended.

I think the sentence is a correct one. This woman planned the killing, posing as someone interested in buying puppies from her victim. Just unthinkable...

Yes, premeditated murder requires death sentence.

Is there any question that her hideous crime meets premedicated first degree murder? It's too horrible even to think what that mother went through, let alone depriving her baby of her mother.

Oops, another spunkian gaaf-I meant premeditated murder not "premedicated."

'Only' took 16 years, but finally justice was served. Good riddance.

Trump Administration Executes Only Woman On Federal Death Row
Quote:
The Trump administration executed Lisa Montgomery, 52, in the early hours of Wednesday morning, ending the tortured life of the only woman on federal death row.

The government killed Montgomery with a lethal injection of pentobarbital over objections by her lawyers that her mental state rendered her incompetent for execution.

Montgomery was sentenced to death for the 2004 murder of Bobbie Jo Stinnett, a woman who was eight months pregnant. Montgomery strangled Stinnett and removed the fetus, pretending to friends and family that the baby was hers.

The baby girl was rescued the following day and returned to her father. The child, now 16, has not spoken publicly about the incident.

State sanctioned killing of a mentally ill inmate, shameful. Another inglorious legacy of the Trump administration.

And before anyone says something about the heinous nature of the crime, the horrific loss of life and the legacy that left for the family, I agree. Two things can be true at once.
