Oh I never plan on having an accident or getting sick, but that is what insurance is for. But the reality it, being a healthy male, I don't need to go to the doctor as much as an aging baby boomer needs to.

Actually, we do have a doctor shortage in our neck of the woods, funny story. See, what happened was that the local Death Panel Secretary mixed up the forms and had all the physicians euthanized. Yeah, we had a sound laugh over that, too, but... One small mishap like that, and suddenly nobody wants to work here any more!
or we could just continue with the existing system it's working just so well.
It works just fine for those of us that can afford to pay for the quality of care we demand. It is unacceptable to make those that pay the bills to have to wait in line with those that don't for treatment.
Why not just open some government clinics for the freeloaders. They can be treated by the doctors who graduated at the bottom of their class or lost their license due to malpractice.
I'm sure the fake online doctors can fill the void.
