Doubling the salaries and benefits of all McDonald's employees -- from workers earning the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour to CEO Donald Thompson, whose 2012 compensation totaled $8.75 million -- would cause the price of a Big Mac to increase just 68 cents, from $3.99 to $4.67, Arnobio Morelix told HuffPost. In addition, every item on the Dollar Menu would go up by 17 cents.
If you double the salary you have to double the employer tax liability as well.
Employers pay a percentage to the government, not a fixed dollar amount.
Plus you would also have to double everyone else's pay along the line.
The shift lead needs to make more than the cashier.
The shift supervisors needs to make more than the shift lead.
The assistant manager needs to make more the the shift supervisor.
The store manager needs to make more than the assistant manager.
The area manager needs to make more than the store manager.
The regional manager needs to make more than the area manager.
You see where this is going.
Here is what some of you people do not understand; the pay is based on the availability of the skill, I do not see what is so difficult to understand about this.
Flipping burgers is a no skilled job, that is why is offers low wages, because almost everyone can do this. A rocket scientist on the other hand, as a higher skill set and is harder to find, thus when a company needs this skill, the wages are higher because there is less available people with this skill.
Whether a person qualifies for SNAP or not is not a concern of a business, it is the government that sets that standard.
Doubling their salaries would cause all other salaries to double. There is no way in the world that a fry cook should be making anywhere near 1/2 of what a skilled worker say in IT makes.
Will the wages of all the people who grow the potatoes, raise the cattle, process the meat, transport it, build and maintain the machines, etc. etc. also be doubled? We might run into some additional cost there...

And of course we all know that it's unlikely that the wages for those positions will increase.
Are people REALLY that stupid? If you double the minimum wage, not only does the cost of the direct wages of the MDs workers increase, but every item they buy goes up accordingly. From the driver delivering product, the cleaning people, the people baking the rolls, the farm workers preparing and butchering the beef and chicken...and maybe even the people picking the lettuce...assuming they are "legal".
The more I read from Huffington Post and other liberal sites out there, the more I comprehend just how many ignorant, if not downright stupid people there are out in public. Yes, they walk among us...makes Zombies look pretty non-threatening.
