As the saying goes. Wife: Stop looking at those girls. Husband: I aint dead yet.
As far as the slip by Michelle, The POTUS is the hardest job in the world and family time goes down, so it is quite possible she feels like a single mom.
For those of you that have raised daughters, the teen age years are the hardest, right.
Even if husbands contribute zero to the logistics of family life - women do not say they are a single mother, when they are part of a one marriage w/ kids by the husband family for 20 years. Women would say what Michelle said in her modified answer.
But no worries - no one will follow up and it will remain unnoticed for the most part.
I just want to point out, that if you read Obama's apology, he doesn't actually apologize for the statement, he apologizes "for the distraction created by his comments." Stay classy.

it is you who is being naive. Are you saying you have never heard someone in a lopsided relationship say they feel like a single parent some times ?
and what do you mean no one will follow up and it will remain unnoticed ? What exactly are you trying to say ?

Have I heard people say they feel like a single parent? Yes. But that's not what she initially said before she modified her answer. And I just don't believe that is a "slip" that women make. Women who have husbands who are on long term service duty do not say they are single mothers even though their husbands are away and they do all of the parenting.

My Mom said that a few times when my Dad decided to switch careers when I was in my teens. She absolutely felt like, and often said, she was a single mother because my Dad lived in a different city M-F for a while.
They're celebrating their 30th anniversary this month so I think they're doing alright.
How about you stop telling people what they should say.
