I was kind of thinking the same thing. And back in the old days, visiting Catholic countries always implied bringing a head cover.

Laura Bush has done nothing wrong. And, there is nothing wrong by wearing scarf.
the more someone knows about other cultures the more someone can understand and respect other people which means; be respect by others.

when in rome.. do as the romans...
every culture as a right to expect courtesy.. in regards to traditions and social norms.. whether we want to be courtesy and do that is our own prerogative...
same applies for people who come to america....but our culture is a matter of who you ask... and is more gray than other nations...

This is kind of an old post, but I just saw it and wanted to respond.

You made the statement:

I responded by saying that on left leaning message boards, there are PLENTY of folks who dislike Laura Bush. If you really want verification then go to:

Democratic Underground and look at the forums. Ask the people there what they think of her and they will be happy to tell you.

But I doubt you will, so take my word for it.

Just because you do not like or want to accept that left wing message boards exist...the fact remains that a LOT of people, whose voice counts just as much as yours, post on these boards...and they ain't no Laura Bush lovers.

Do you really want to compare Clinton to Bush 2? Really...

lets see, Clinton got a BJ and lied about it under oath.

Bush 2 condones torture, led us into a war based on lies and has let a great American city go down in flames (and water) on his watch...and has never gone under oath.

I question the validity of your comparison.

What do you mean? I saw your post and was clearly trying to convey that Laura Bush is and should be judged more harshly on her husband than Hilary on hers...do you not see that?

Okay, I see what you were saying; it's been a while since I read this. The thread started simply talking about whether or not she sold out American values and someone stated that she is a classy lady. Another person said that this might be the case but that he did not like her based on the fact that she stood by her husband who he/she felt was wrong. I simply asked if Hillary would be judged on same the criteria of standing by someone that was wrong. I think that comparing the perceived wrongs of a President starts to lead a long way away from how a first lady conducts herself.
