Perhaps the U.S. should pull out of Chicago ?
Body count: In the last six months 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago .
221 killed in Iraq AND Chicago has one of the strictest gun laws in the entire US.
PRESIDENT: Barack Hussein Obama
Senator: Dick Durbin
House Representative: Jesse Jackson Jr.
Governor: Pat Quinn
House leader: Mike Madigan
Atty. Gen.: Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike)
Mayor: Rahm Emanuel
The leadership in Illinois - all Democrats.
Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago .
Of course, they're all blaming each other.
Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!
Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country.
Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!
State pension fund $78 Billion in debt, worst in country.
Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!
Cook County ( Chicago ) sales tax 10.25% highest in country.
Can't blame Republicans; there aren't any!
This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois .
And he is going to 'fix' Washington politics for us???
George Ryan is no longer Governor, he is in the big house. Of course he was replaced by Rob Blajegovitch who is...that's right, also in the big house. And Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. resigned a couple of weeks ago. That is because he is fighting being sent to...that's right, the big house.
The Land of Lincoln , where our governors make our license plates.
But you know what? As long as they keep providing entitlements to the population of Chicago , nothing is going to change, except the state will go broke before the country does.
"Socialism is the phantastic younger brother of despotism, which it wants to inherit. Socialism wants to have the fullness of state force which before only existed in despotism. ... However, it goes further than anything in the past because it aims at the formal destruction of the individual who can be used to improve communities by an expedient organ of government."
-- Friedrich Nietzsche - (1844-1900)

Note: Chicago had over 500 homicides in 2012. 508 to be exact. Also the unfunded Pension liabilities are over 100 Billion now. Plus Illinois has the worst credit rating in the country.
Such a sorry excuse of a city.

You got it!

I have visited there a number of times over the years and would definitely live in that city.
You visit. You know what you see when you visit. Then you leave.

Notice the OP's location?
Michiana?
Quote:
Michiana (aka The Southern Lakeshore) is a region in northern Indiana and southwestern Michigan centered on the city of South Bend, Indiana. The Chamber of Commerce of St. Joseph County, Indiana defines Michiana as "counties that contribute at least 500 inbound commuting workers to St. Joseph County daily." Those counties include Elkhart, La Porte, Marshall, St. Joseph, and Starke in Indiana, and Berrien and Cass in Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the population of those seven counties was 840,697 (627,140 in Indiana and 213,557 in Michigan).

The name is a portmanteau of "Michigan" and "Indiana" and was chosen as the winning entry, purportedly submitted by Thurman C. Crook, in a contest to name the area held by the Associated South Bend Merchants in 1934. The term is frequently used throughout the area, particularly by local radio and television stations based in South Bend that serve the entire area, but also by businesses that seek to draw customers from Indiana into Michigan or vice versa.
LOL, nice and clean area to live, work and play in. <heavy> once the steel mills shut down. Good thing the prevailing winds blow from west to east.
Pull up Michiana on a Google map, note where it's located in reference to Gary Indiana, formerly the murder capital of the world, and one of the areas biggest industrial polluters.

You don't live in Chicago, you live best Chicago in the suburbs so you visit the city, get scared and then run back to your suburbs like a typical suburbanite.

Do you think I just visit the touristy places for a couple days when I go there? No I stay in the neighborhoods for extended periods of time and really enjoy myself while I am there. One of my favorite things to do is to walk random neighborhoods and always enjoy a good whiskey bar and a Cubs game of two while I am there.

That's because you run around the tourist areas and claim to know the city based on staying in the safe areas.

And of course, who wouldn't want to live in a city that is home to the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field.

Raising kids in one of the most dangerous ;arge city in America, corrupt politics and politicians, terrible school system and then horrible weather.

Of course that's what you call a great place to live. Ouch.

If that's the primary credibility criterion, why aren't you at least equally dismissive of the OP?
