Ideologues are everything that is wrong with politics. RIP Margaret Thatcher
Margaret Thatcher is best described as an ideologue and essentially sold off British assets to keep the island afloat. Now they depend on dwindling North Sea oil and their corrupt financial sector.
The problem isn't government. Its monopoly. The Soviet Unions actually competed rather well with the US as military power because the US was competition. However its internal monopolies helped do it in.
So the lack of classical economic concepts in rent seeking have discredited both Keynes and Hayek idiotic interpretations, the oil shock embarrassing US Keynesians who thought man hours can make oil, and Thatcher's Hayek paradise which fails due to being oblivious to rent seeking and monopoly.
The market system cannot work on natural monopolies. The best thing to do is tax monopoly rents as part of the tax base to untax the private sector, and regulate the necessary evil.
Her legacy is the current state of affairs in Britain which speaks for itself.
Oh, and Chavez was elected and a US government backed coup in 2003 failed because the people rallied to his support...meanwhile Thatcher was hated by the people of Britain and riots broke out when she ended free lunch to school children citing "the budget" while she meanwhile pumped money into more nuclear weapons.
As always, the hypocrisy of the right-wing hacks comes out...but what would we expect from a group of people who fear gay marriage would lead to legal polygamy, and yet did not hesitate to vote for a Mormon?
When will the stupidity of the right-wing Slim Jim eating "useful idiots" of their corporate masters end?
