And also because 4/15 is the anniversary of his granddaddy's birth, which to the North Korean dictatorship and its hapless victims is like Christmas and Super Bowl Sunday all rolled into one.

He'll keep rattling his sabers and might even decide to bomb the middle of the ocean, just to show his people (and most importantly his relatives and other senior generals who really call the shots) that he's worthy of his daddy's and granddaddy's legacy.

It wouldn't surprise me to learn that Li'l Kim is an admirer of Adolf Hitler and that he sees himself a a ghost of the Reich, and that this tantrum is just a rebel yell that'll be over soon.

If positions were swapped, what would the poor little USA do to the big bad NK whose embargoes and meddling have hurt its people?

I don't think the American people would tolerate that little tin-horn dictator as our leader. Or any communist form of government, for that matter. The left would love it, but they don't own the guns.

The USA has been socialist since 1935.
And some might consider BHO as a tin-horn dictator, too.

Welcome to the People's Democratic Socialist Republic of America - sans that pesky "charter of negative liberties" (saith BHO, that "constitutional scholar" in the White House, ably assisted by Chief Justice Roberts ). Your "right to life" has become a government granted privilege, as all other aspects of your life. All that is not mandatory, shall be licensed (+ taxed) or forbidden. You already need a license (or pay a tax) to live, work, travel, buy, sell, operate a business, transmit radio, fly a plane, trade in healthcare, buy medicine, cut hair, build a house, hunt, fish, marry and own a dog. The worst is yet to come... oh, right, and when you die, they take a chunk of your estate, too.
And do not forget your papers-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s!

It's not the USA's fault that the North Korean people are starving. Its government chooses to divert food aid away from ordinary people and toward the élites. It's kind of like a welfare system in reverse.

If the US were really anything like North Korea, you wouldn't have Internet access -- and if you did, you and your entire family would be thrown into prison camps for posting that.

Driver, doctor, and pilot licensing are not signs of totalitarianism. And since you seem to be opposed to any sort of law enforcement whatseover, how would you have the US deal with the illegal immigration problem?

NK, needs to be careful before they get the attention full bore, that they are wishing for.
That about sums it up. Would be nice if the USA took a lesson on border security from DPRK though.

If the North Korean leadership has any sanity left, they'll quiet things down soon.

Kim needs to show his people who's boss and give them an enemy to unite against, lest they end up turning on the brutal dictatorship that has made their lives hell. He goes out, flexes some muscle, rails against the American imperialists, and then things return to normal. He oppresses and starves his people and they go along with it because they're too beaten down, brainwashed, and misdirected to know any better or to do anything about their crappy situation.

Easily the stupidest comment I've read all month on here, and that's really saying something.
