Missouri Democrats introduced an anti-gun bill which would turn law-abiding firearm owners into criminals. They will have 90 days to turn in their guns if the legislation is passed.
Here’s part of the Democratic proposal in Missouri: 4. Any person who, prior to the effective date of this law, was legally in possession of an assault weapon or large capacity magazineshall have ninety daysfrom such effective date to do any of the following without being subject to prosecution: (1)Remove the assault weapon or large capacity magazine from the state of Missouri; (2) Render the assault weapon permanently inoperable; or (3)Surrender the assault weapon or large capacity magazine to the appropriate law enforcement agencyfor destruction, subject to specific agency regulations. 5. Unlawful manufacture, import, possession, purchase, sale, or transfer of an assault weapon or a large capacity magazine is a class C felony.

More often than you think. Over here where I live, multiple bad guys invading home is almost a daily event. I am sure your place isn't much better. They are so common that they don't even make to the news anymore, which is why you "haven't heard."
Besides, if you don't see the need, don't buy one.
Why would the average person need an assault weapon
Syria. Malaysia. China. Germany 1941. Because history repeats itself, again and again and again. The current situation in the United States may not look the way it does in 15, 20, 50 years from now. Because those weapons are a deterrent, and just how multiple countries with nuclear weapons prevented nuclear war via mutually assured destruction (MAD), the US citizens having military grade weapons will prevent the US government from ever committing those types of crimes against their own people.
Open up your history books, and leave your emotional garbage at the door. I'm tired of you anti-gun idiots.

Personally, I use mine for hunting pigs on my place... It's the ideal weapon against them... Of coarse not being a gun owner the use of a so called assault weapon for anything other than violence would escape you completely...
