MHP went on a double down rant this week end quoting some Muslim poet from the early 20th century,named Gibran;
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,
which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
I don't think she is smart enough to understand that this will not set well with 80 percent of America. I think that she feels that because she uses words like existential that her ideas are exalted over people who do not teach in college. Existential is a word that only means to exist or and argument that stems from something that exists and is over used by snobs.
I don't know about you, but I am not property of my parents, they educated and raised me so that I would be a productive member of our society, which I am very much apart of.

"some poet..."
OY!
Kahlil Gibran. Have you REALLY never heard of him before? Maybe you should go buy a book of his poetry. You might have a better understanding of what he was about.
The very fact that you don't even remotely understand what this is saying is pathetic. What the hell are they teaching in schools anymore?
Yeah....that lady is nuts...My children came from my loins and my wife's belly they are ours to raise and teach until they hit 18 and can do things on their own.
I agree with Mr Gibran, he is one of my favorites. My children don't "belong" to me. However, they sure as heck don't belong to the "community" either.
If I chose to, I could home school them, cut off all access to the media and the outside world. They are mine to raise as I see fit.

So what happens when you children leave home? What happens when they grow up and move out? Are they not apart of the community then, much like you are now?
