Just started this book. I read Smith's book about Communist Russia when I was in college. Great read so far.

Who stole your dream? Why would you worry about others dreams, if you yourself are incapable of fulfilling anyone's dream but your own?

You would do better to read the US Constitution and understand its meaning.

No one has we are living the american dream of ourt parents. Some seem to think its madeup of free stuff and things given by some right whe that has never been the case.The dream was to won a home and have enoguh to eat and cloth ourself at one time.Mnay in some countries would settle for just enough to eat daily; even half of what average american consumes.

I own a home and I never considered that even part of the american dream...I figured having a roof over my head was just good enough. Incidentally, I want to sell my place...home ownership is not for me (maybe a condo).

You're missing the point. Germany, for instance, has crushed us economically, establishing a vibrant middle class and out-exports America by far. The global economy has created many shifts and the American middle class no longer is a target market while other countries like China, Germany, etc and etc are experiencing improvements in moving people from poverty to middle class. Incapable? I've gone to the top of my profession. I'm a historian by training and enjoy reading history and current events to learn, by, you know, reading BOOKS. Anyone remember what those are?

I just finished reading a book published in 1923 about the American revolution, the colonies, the people, the Crown just before the revolt (I am now reading "Who Stole the American Dream). It was written by James Truslow Adams. He was the person who coined the phrase "The American Dream". What is ironic is he retired young and rich. He was a NY stockbroker. He later became an author and became world renowned for his series on the American Revolution. Here is his quote that brought us the American Dream phrase.

“The American Dream is that dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement. It is a difficult dream for the European upper classes to interpret adequately, and too many of us ourselves have grown weary and mistrustful of it. It is not a dream of motor cars and high wages merely, but a dream of social order in which each man and each woman shall be able to attain to the fullest stature of which they are innately capable, and be recognized by others for what they are, regardless of the fortuitous circumstances of birth or position.”

Your post doesn't make sense. And why should someone have to fulfill other peoples dreams?
